BRYR /BRIL Park Games now approaching end of its 3rd Summer
The games have ran, 3 days per week, for 3 summers, in all local parks
Skipping in Balcurris Park
This photo captures Bryr staff and Volunteer's playing skipping in Balcurris Park.
This takes place every Wednesday afternoon from 2pm - 5pm. As well as skipping, we play ball, tennis, chasing, red rover and lot of healthy play to get kids out of the house and off Xbox's.
The BRYR/BRiL games started from 7th May and will run until 27th July. This is their 3rd year of running, on a 3 days per week basis, in Balcurris, Coultry, Shangan, Sillogue and Poppintree parks over each Summer.
We rely on our Volunteers/EVS as well as sessional and full time staff to facilitate the Games. Over the past 3 years BRYR have worked on these games, funded by BRL and Safer Ballymun, to manage the Park games and it has been a very good working relationship to date.
Kids playing chasing
Here are BRYR staff/volunteer chasing some of the younger age children around the park and unfortunately this photo does not capture the squeals of delight from the little one’s as they are being chased. Two minutes later our volunteer Keith was on the grass covered in good oul fashion muck from head to toe being jumped on by the kids who thought this was the best thing they seen that day. Keep up the good work Keith.
Boxercise in the park
For the past 2 year’s Frank has been volunteering and helping out with the park games as well as groups in-house and has really brought boxercise into being a healthy activity that a lot of young people engage in and find really good. Frank is a very talented coach and can have young people who never had a boxing glove on before looking like they have been doing it for years.
