Reco Mural Project - Oufit Programme

Oufit Participants complete new Reco Mural Project

Come and see our brilliant new mural on the back wall of the Reco Building"

Background

A group called outfit, for 17 - 21 year olds, designed the mural 4 years ago as part of their Programme.

This year's Oufit group took the pleasure in completing the project by placing it up on the wall.

And what a great job they done.

The theme behind the mural is connected with Ballymun and it's Regeneration.

Based on idea of the old Ballymun flats being knocked down by a force greater than all of us.

Today, some of the flats are down while some remain, the sunshine shines brighter on the mun now

The Group started painting the mural on the wall in July 2010, it took five half days in total to finish, we had the support and direction of an artist PC and the two Outift mentors working here in the Reco.

You can have a look through the photos from start to finish, and see it taking shape. Check out the gallery of it's progress to the final product.

The sun shone for us all week and as the days went the by the mural looked better and better.

A lot of local young people watching from the Balbutcher area took pictures and used it for their phone screen saver, we were really happy with the opinions we heard and the Outfit group are really proud of the finished piece.

We would like to thank all the local young people, volunteers and staff, including bryr management, for all the support which we received from the initial design phase right through to it becoming a finished new Art piece both of and for Ballymun.
