Summer Programme

BRYR Summer Programme works towards quality engagement with young people during the summer months.

The BRYR Summer Programme works to maintain contact with currently engaging young people and to engage with new young people during the summer months. We believe this Summer engagement is important to the young people as a community resource and as social fun activity.

Overall, the Summer Programme works:

To strengthen the relations of the young people with the youth leaders ( as the events are often longer during the Summer than during the year).

To strengthen the relations of the young people to The Reco itself ( and the resources within it) - (as young people often use The Reco as a place to hang out over the Summer).

To offer young people new experiences and opportunities throughout the Summer ( through the programme).

To link young people with new programmes in the September cycle.

To offer young people a fun youth friendly alternative to hanging about all summer.

Programmes include a calendar of Open Activities plus the existing strands e.g. Junior Cadets Summer Programme, CITY Summer Programme, Art Club Summer Programme, Music Club Summer Programme, Regular Groups trips and of course the Outreach Street Programme.

Summer Programme 2009 review

BRYR has just last week finished our Summer Programme for 2009 which lasted for 3 months!

We're happy that it was a big success. It built on previous BRYR Summer Programmes.

We've also had our review day where we noted successes and have some good ideas for Summer Programme 2010

Two aspects which we were really happy with this year was, firstly, the strong volunteer presence which enhanced our work with the young people and secondly, having access to our new Reco Sports Area which was a fabulous resource for healthy and fun sports activity.
