Reco Restaurant
Opened in November 2007 the restaurant serves healthy, freshly-cooked food prepared by a professional chef. Primary emphasis is placed on main courses. With due care for etiquette and socialisation around food, there are now four types of beneficiaries of our 28-seater restaurant.
The most numerous are young people who attend as part of a group activity taking place in The Reco. Since the opening of the restaurant we have found that it is a great complement to youth work activities in the building. Normally these groups book the restaurant space in the afternoons or evenings.
Young people also attend as individual paying customers during designated open times, including weekday lunch-times and Saturdays. Adults who are connected with The Reco and its activities can also access the restaurant at lunch times. Finally, the Reco Restaurant now caters for youth-linked activities in other locations both within the Reco and other parts of Ballymun.
There is a two-tier charge system: adults pay a modest price (average €6.50 per main course) and young people pay half this price. From its inception BRYR set the goal of financing the operation of the restaurant from its own income and to date we have achieved this goal.
