FETAC Certificate in Youthwork 2010
I am delighted to inform you that for the second year consecutively, BRYR will run the FETAC Certificate in Youth Work in Ballymun in 2010. This course is intended for those working as youth leaders at present in a voluntary or paid capacity and interested in a career in youth work.
The deadline for applications is Friday 9th October, 5pm, following which applicants will be invited to attend an informal interview.
FETAC Level 5 Certificate in Youth Work 2010

Introduction:
BRYR – Ballymun Regional Youth Resource – is due to run the Fetac level 5 Certificate in Youth Work again in January 2010. This course is intended for those working as youth leaders at present in a voluntary or paid capacity or those interested in a career in Youth Work.
Admission Requirements:
· Two hours (minimum) weekly involvement in a youth club/group or youth organisation
· Participants must be aged 18 or over
· Good literacy level
· An informal interview will take place as part of the selection process
Course content:
There will be a brief induction period between November & December ’09 to give participants the opportunity to discuss individual needs and bond as a group.
The FETAC level 5 Certificate in Youth Work will be awarded to candidates who reach the required standard in modules whose total value are at least 8 and which include:
- Working with young people
- Work experience
- Communication
- Understanding Youth Work
- Young people and Society
- Working with Groups
- Substance Use – Issues for Youthwork
- Outdoor Leadership and Safety or Occupational First Aid
Certification:
BRYR is registered with FETAC – Further Education and Training Awards Council – to offer programmes leading to the level 5 Certificate in Youth Work.
Course Duration:
The course will run over a period of 12 months one morning a week, including at least 3 weekends.

Priority will be given to applicants living/working in the Ballymun area and interested in pursuing a career in Youth Work.
