Ongoing Support
Once placed, the volunteer’s primary point of contact will be the direct supervisor.
If a volunteer is unable to attend a group he or she must contact the supervisor as early as possible so that alternate coverage may be arranged.
The VSW will also provide ongoing support to the volunteer in three ways:
- periodic check-ins to see how the volunteer is getting on
- inviting the volunteer to participate in training and development opportunities
- Regular, scheduled reviews which will happen at the end of each term.
The supervisor will provide support in the following ways:
- Inform the volunteer of plans for upcoming sessions, changes to plans and any issues that arise with the group
- Communicate with the volunteer about cancellation of groups or changes to staffing
- Communicate with the VSW about benefits or challenges of working with the volunteer, and any training needs that may exist
